Designed to Inspire
This is new service center in Mokgophong Municipal Agricultural region. This entails designing offices, laboratories, training areas and other facilities necessary for Department of Agriculture’s service center to function efficiently. It comprises of a two-storey structure consisting of three functional wings. It has a structure that is tailor designed for a hot climate like that of Mookgophong.
The ground and upper floors have been designed to house offices, training facilities, reception, boardrooms and other support facilities. In addition, a garden space has been incorporated between the first floor and the roof to help cool down the building on hot summer days and also to provide a relaxing area for the building users. Skylights have been placed at intervals of interest in the large foyer space and other spaces to allow maximized use of natural light and to create a dramatic light atmosphere. Large columns have been placed on the facades of the structure, at the top of these columns are steel support structures supporting the roof.
This is a strong design element creating a language for the building and thereby bringing out the aesthetics.
