Designed to Inspire

This project begun as a design competition that Tectura was honoured to win. The Xinhua News Agency is the state press agency of the People’s Republic of China. Xinhua operates 107 foreign bureaus worldwide including Kenya, and maintains 31 bureaus in China— one for each province, plus a military bureau. Over the years these bureaus have continued to expand calling for expansion of premises from where they operate. It is in line with this expansion strategy that the Kenya Xinhua bureau planned to put up new building facility that would cater for their expanding and changing operations.

The Design is a mixed use development to accommodate their offices, staff housing and recreational spaces for their staff and visitors. The development is environmentally sustainable and offer the best benefits of mixed-use developments.

The building integrates and improves the strong context within which it is located and enhances the quality of outdoor space and the balance between indoor and outdoor spaces. It demonstrates clear principles on site planning, context, functionality and ecologically sustainable design.
